Toddle is a teacher-built, AI-first teaching and learning platform that goes beyond a typical LMS. We help educators streamline their entire workflow – from curriculum planning and assessments to student portfolios, gradebook, progress reports and family communication – all from one intuitive interface.
In the past two years, we’ve deeply embedded AI across our entire platform to reduce teachers’ administrative workload and help them focus on what really matters: delivering meaningful, personalised instruction. Whether it’s planning lessons, assessing student work, or writing report cards, Toddle AI is built to support teachers in all their work.
Today, 2,000+ schools and districts across 100+ countries use Toddle to simplify and elevate their teaching. We are backed by leading global investors, including GSV and Sequoia Capital.
Here’s what you’ll be doing
You’ll own key parts of Toddle’s product and platform end‑to‑end – building infra, shaping backend services, and evolving our AWS platform (IaC, CI/CD, observability, security, performance). This role is for generalists who enjoy working across frontend, backend, and infrastructure.
As a SRE, you will play a major role in championing, leading, and maintaining infrastructure at Toddle.
- Architect and evolve core platform primitives (networking, runtime, data, observability) for high availability and scale.
- Build golden paths and internal tooling to improve developer experience (templates, CLIs, paved roads, test/data pipelines).
- Define and automate security baselines (WAF, IAM policies, key management, secret management) and compliance evidence collection.
- Implement robust CI/CD (pipelines, artifact management, SBOM) and release strategies.
- Optimise Postgres at scale (query tuning, indices, replication, backups, PITR) and caching layers (Redis/Edge).
- Partner with product teams to enable rapid, safe delivery; contribute to backend APIs and occasional React tooling/screens.
Must have Skills:
- 3–5 years in platform/infra roles within product engineering organizations.
- Deep AWS experience (networking, security, compute, storage, databases, CDN) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred).
- Strong understanding of security, privacy, and compliance practices.
- Expertise in CI/CD, containerization, Linux, Git, Node.js, build tooling (e.g., Webpack), and monitoring/alerting.
- Proficiency in at least one backend stack (Node.js/TypeScript preferred); familiarity with React.
- Clear communication, bias for action, ownership, and empathy.
Good to have:
- Cost governance & capacity planning; led incident and cost programs.
- RDS/PostgreSQL at scale – replication, read replicas, partitioning; multi-region topologies.
- Serverless architectures (Lambda-first mindset).
- Event-driven systems & job orchestration (SQS, Step Functions, Temporal, BullMQ).
- Compliance & security program experience (ISO 27001, SOC 2).
- Team building: forming platform teams/guilds; interviewing & onboarding engineers.
- Performance profiling across web/mobile APIs & databases; cost optimization.
Is this someone that looks like you?
- Education: B.E/B.Tech degree
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of relevant working experience (SaaS preferred)
- Soft Skills: Having a bias towards action, a good sense of design, empathy, and good communication skills
- We deeply value building the right culture at Toddle, and these are a few things that we look for in each hire – Coach-ability, Curiosity, Ownership, Hustle and Humility
